A Cultural Christmas at the Turin Opera
Italy has been known for being a country that has been particular in preserving arts as a part of their culture. This is the reason why Teatro Regio or the Turin Opera structure has still been standing until today. Teatro Regio has gained popularity as being the prominent theater in Turin, Italy. For a number of years, this theatre has been presenting the Turin Opera presentations showcasing the works of famous musicians of all times. Apart from showcasing opera works, the Turin Opera has also been under the baton of Arturo Toscanini, who is also a very notable Italian conductor, from 1885-1898.

October: La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi
This opera consisting of three acts was based on The Lady of Camellias written by Alexander Dumas fils, the son of the author of The Three Musketeers. This is a tragic opera with Violetta and Alfredo as the main character. Violetta who had recovered from an illness have fallen in love with Alfredo even after rejecting him. When they run out of money, Alfredo went away to get money for them. However, he returned and thought Violetta left him for another man so he mocked her. In the end, Alfredo found out that Violetta was driven away by his father so he went back to her just to find out that she is dying of tuberculosis. She tragically died in Alfredo’s arms.
November: Tancredi by Giachino Rossini
Trancedi, who was a soldier of Syracuse, and his family lost their estates while two prominent people namely Argirio and Orbazzano continued to war with each other. In the process, Orbazzano proposed a truce by giving Trancedi’s properties to Argirio but he should give his daughter Amenaide to him as his wife. Upon learning this, Trancedi returned and proposed to work under Argirio and challenged Orbazzano to a match in order to protect Amenaide. The ending led to Trancedi dying but he learned that he was not betrayed by Amenaide by loving another man.
December: The Nutcracker Ballet by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky
This is a popular ballet presentation about Clara, a German girl, who dreamed of fighting a Mouse King with her Nutcracker Prince.
